The August Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Human Rights Case 18877/2018 and AJK High court, Mirpur have ordered telecom operators to suspend deduction/collection of Advance Income Tax, GST and service and maintenance charges from all customers. The interim order is effective and applicable from 14 June 2018 for prepaid customers & from 16th October 2018 for postpay customers. Ufone’s cellular mobile services may be subject to Federal and/or provincial and territorial taxes, depending on the location of the customer.

There are two applicable taxes:

Advance Income Tax (AIT)
Under Section 236 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, Ufone has been designated to collect AIT from its customers. AIT is collected on all modes of receipts and billings, unless exempt under the law.

Service Tax (GST)
Federal Excise Duty or provincial/territorial sales taxes may apply to Ufone’s different services.
