What is USehat?

Ufone collaborates with MicroEnsure to bring financial security in times of need. USehat offers a financial safety net to customer against costs of hospitalization at any hospital across Pakistan. The product is underwritten by EFU Life Assurance Limited, a leading life insurance company in Pakistan.
The product also provides financial cover in case of death of a subscriber and an additional sum for funeral expenses*.

    To unsubscribe USehat, dial *6070#, go to option 4, ‘Customer Support’ and select ‘Un-Subscription’. Once successful, customer will be notified through SMS.

    Who can avail USehat?
    Subscribers of Ufone who are Pakistani nationals and aged minimum eighteen (18) years and under seventy years (70) can avail USehat upon payment of applicable subscription fee. The registration under USehat will expire when a subscriber reaches the age of seventy (70) years. In case of availability of only year of birth information, January 1 shall be considered the month and date of birth respectively.
    What are the limits against various coverages?
    USehat offers generous limits as stated below:
    Daily Hospitalization and ICU Benefit:

    • Minimum hospitalization stay requirement is of 24 hours
    • Maximum thirty (30) nights financial cover is payable for any one hospitalization
    • The daily benefit ranges from PKR 1,000 (Silver Plan) to PKR 10,000 (Diamond Plan) under hospitalization benefit and from PKR 2,000 (Silver Plan) to PKR 20,000 (Diamond Plan) under ICU benefit

    Death Cover:
    Death cover ranges from PKR 10,000 to PKR 90,000 depending on the plan type selected by the subscriber.
    Funeral Expense Cover:
    This benefit is available only under Platinum and Diamond plans for PKR 10,000 and PKR 20,000 respectively.
    What if my airtime balance is insufficient to pay for full month’s subscription fee?
    We have taken care of that scenario and in such case, you will be offered prorated benefit as per the following formula in daily recursive charging:
    [Total daily subscription fee collected during one calendar month ÷ full daily subscription fee due during one calendar month] × maximum benefit
    Suppose you have selected Platinum package where daily subscription fee is PKR 6.5+tax. In order to avail maximum benefits, you have to pay PKR 195+tax during a calendar month. Now assume that you could pay only PKR 169+tax during a calendar month, your coverage will be as per the following table:

    Where minimum benefit under Hospitalization Benefit and ICU Benefit will be PKR 500 and PKR 1,000 respectively.
    In monthly non-recursive charging you must pay full subscription fee to receive cover.
    How can I avail USehat?
    The process is very simple. You will get a call from our representative who will tell you about the product features and will assist in registration process. Once your registration is activated on Ufone systems, the charging will start and your coverage will be active. Rest assured, you will be getting SMS notifications at each step.
    When will cover start and what will be the term of the cover?
    In daily recursive charging, benefit amount will be calculated on the basis of subscription fee collected from you in a calendar month and cover will start from first day of the following calendar month.
    In monthly non-recursive charging, you will have to pay full subscription fee in lump sum and your coverage will commence upon payment.
    How can I claim under USehat?
    In case of any insured loss, you or any of your family members can notify us through one of these methods:

    Please note that you or your family members must notify a claim within ninety (90) days of occurrence of the insured loss and failure to do so can affect claim approval.

    What documents will be required to claim under USehat?
    Following documents must be provided within ninety (90) days of the date of occurrence of insured loss through the process explained below:
    All Claims types:
    a) Insured subscriber CNIC
    b) Claimant/beneficiary CNIC
    c) Claimant Statement signed by the claimant
    d) Heirship certificate to establish claimant title if no beneficiary was designated by the insured subscriber
    e) Guardianship certificate if the beneficiary is minor
    Claims under Hospitalization and ICU Benefits:
    a) Hospitalization record giving dates of admission and discharge, diagnosis made and the treatment given
    b) Attending physician’s statement
    c) Police FIR and medico-legal report in situations where hospitalization is as a result of accident, violence, attempted self-destruction
    Claims under Death and Funeral Expense Benefits:
    a) Death certificate issued by authorized government body
    b) In the event of death Post-mortem report (if available)
    All documents can be submitted in scanned form. However, the insurance company reserves the right to ask for original documents and any other reasonable document as and when required.
    Who will be paid the Claim?
    Claims under Hospitalization and ICU Benefits:
    The claim will be payable to the insured subscriber. However, if state of health of the insured subscriber is such that he or she cannot give a valid discharge of claim settlement to the insurance company, additional documents such as heirship certificate or guardianship certificate may be asked.
    Claims under Death and Funeral Expense Benefits:
    The claim will be paid to your family member who submits heirship certificate issued by authorized government body. However, if you designated a beneficiary after registration into the product, through verbal instructions at customer services touch points mentioned here, claim will be payable to the beneficiary so designated by the subscriber and existing in MicroEnsure’s records.
    Can I go to any hospital?
    Yes, you can visit any hospital for inpatient treatment including free government and trust hospitals as long as the facility is:
    a) Licensed by the Government authorities to provide medical care in accordance with the laws of Pakistan
    b) Is primarily engaged in providing diagnostic and laboratory tests, medical evaluations, medical treatment and services and surgical facilities
    c) Has 24 hours-a-day nursing service by registered graduate nurses under the permanent supervision of in-house Physicians in charge
    d) Maintains proper in-patient facilities with documented protocols and procedures
    e) Maintains a daily medical record for each of its patients, which is readily accessible to the insurance company.
    When will the claim be paid? How will the claim be paid?
    All valid claims will be paid within five (5) working days upon completion of all required documents. Claim will be paid by issuing a crossed cheque drawn in favour of the claimant, mobile money or any other medium as agreed between parties from time to time.
    In what circumstances will my claim not be paid?
    The claim will not be paid in the event of the following:
    a) Suicide, self-destruction or self-inflicted injury, while sane or insane, or any attempt there at; under the influence of contraband drugs/drinks
    b) Natural catastrophes, War, declared or undeclared, or any act of war or insurrection, or as a result of a strike, riot, civil commotion
    c) The commission or attempted commission of an act which would subject the person to civil or criminal penalties, or the contravention of any law
    d) Filing of a fake claim
    e) In the event of non-payment of premium and non-availability of cover in the month when the loss has occurred
    Under what conditions my subscription under USehat will be terminated?
    a) Cessation of USehat by any reason whatsoever
    b) Upon payment of any claim
    c) Insured subscriber ceases to be a Ufone subscriber
    d) Your decision not to continue with the product and communication of that to us using the customer service touch points
    e) Continuous non-payment of subscription fee
    f) Filing of fake claims
    g) When a subscriber attains seventy (70) years of age

    I have multiple SIMs of Ufone, can I avail more than one USehat subscriptions?
    No, only one subscription is allowed per CNIC.

    • Subscribers of Ufone who are Pakistani nationals and aged minimum eighteen (18) years and under seventy years (70) can avail USehat upon payment of applicable subscription fee
    • Customers must pay subscription fees to be eligible to avail USehat protection plans
    • The products are developed by MicroEnsure Pakistan (Private) Limited who is also providing distribution and administrative services under this arrangement
    • The insurance benefit offered under the products will be governed by the terms and conditions contained in the group policy issued by registered insurance companies in Pakistan. The insurance cover provided in the products is underwritten by EFU Life Assurance Ltd who will be responsible for payment of valid claims under the insurance benefit
    • Ufone is only facilitating the offer and should not be construed as distributing these products and is not responsible for any benefits promised therein
    • All subscription and any benefits payable under the products will be in Pakistani rupees
    • By enrolment in products, a subscriber authorizes Ufone to share his/her details available with Ufone to the parties providing these products. The subscriber agrees and acknowledges that he or his legal heirs shall not hold Ufone responsible for any consequences of sharing such information
    • The terms of the products including subscription fee can be amended or the products can be withdrawn by the supplier parties at any time and in such an event subscribers shall be informed through an SMS or any other manner as agreed between the parties
