Voice Roaming FAQs
 
Q: Do I need to purchase a special number to avail International Roaming?
A:
No, international roaming is available for all Ufone Post paid and Pre paid customers.
 
 
Q: How can I make outgoing calls in a foreign country using Ufone International Roaming Service?
A:
Simply dial "+" or “00” followed by the country code and the destination number (city code/mobile network code and the telephone number). For e.g. for Pakistan simply dial +92(city/mobile code) (number)
 
 
Q: How will the person call me from Pakistan?
A:
By simply dialing your mobile number preceded by 0333/0334 code.
 
 
Q: What is the procedure to Access Voice Mail while on Roaming?
A:
From your Ufone number dial + 92 333 5110001 (North), 4220001 (Central) or 2110001 (South region) and wait for the voice prompt and Press #.

Wait for the voice prompt and dial your Ufone number without ‘0’ e.g. 333 5xxxxxx, press # to access your Voice Mailbox and enter your password
 
 
Q: What can I do if I have a problem while I am on Roaming?
A:

Q: How can I provision International Roaming on my Post paid number?
A:
All you need is to do is visit our nearest service center/franchise and deposit a sum of Rs.15,000 as security fee (refundable).
 
 
Q: How can I provision International Roaming on my Pre paid number?
A:
By calling 333. No activation charges or deposits required.
 
 
Q: Where I can get the detailed information on tariffs and Roaming Partners?
A:
Detailed information is available on our website www.ufone.com or you can call our Customer Care Representative by dialing 333 from your Ufone number or by dialing 051-111-333-100 from any other number.
 
 
Q: How long would it take for IR to be provisioned on my number?
A:
The total provisioning time for Postpaid is 6 hrs & for prepaid it is 12 hrs.
 
 
Q: Can I use GPRS and Blackberry services while on roaming?
A:

Q: Do I need to take any special handset on International roaming?
A:

• If your destination country is USA then you need to have any Tri-band (900, 1800, and 1900) frequency handset.
• If your destination country is Japan/South Korea then you will need to carry a 3G compatible handset.
  
  
Q: Will Ufone Prepaid recharge cards be available in the country I will be Roaming in?
A:
No, you should recharge your account up to Rs. 2,000 or more in order to avoid any inconvenience. Subscribers can also carry scratch cards with them to be loaded while roaming.

A:
Yes, you can by the following method.
  
Nokia: Menu > Settings > Phone Settings > Network > Selection > Manual
Motorola: Menu > Settings > Network > Available Networks > Register Now
Sony Ericsson: Menu > Connectivity > Mobile > Network/Networks > Search Mode > Manual > Select Network
Samsung: Menu > Network Services > Network Selection > Manual
Imate: Start > Settings > Phone > Networks > Network Selection > Manual
BenQ: Menu > Settings > Network > Manual
LG: Menu > Settings > Connection > Network Selection > Manual
Siemen: Menu > Setup > Network > Auto Network; (press Change to remove the check mark, if checked) Choose Network. Press yes to change network
Blackberry: Options (icon) > Mobile Network > Network Selection Mode > Manual

Please avoid using short codes for e.g. 333, 666 etc while using Ufone IR service.
 
SMS Roaming FAQs
 
Q: Is SMS Roaming service available for all Prepay / Postpaid customers?
A:
Yes
 
Q: How do I activate the SMS Roaming service on my number?
A:
You can activate SMS Roaming by sending a blank SMS to 766.
 
Q: How do I deactivate the SMS Roaming service on my number?
A:
You can deactivate SMS Roaming by sending a blank SMS to 765.
 
Q: Are there any additional charges for sending an SMS to 766 & 765?
A:
An SMS would cost Rs 1.79 (inclusive of tax).
 
Q: What announcement will be heard by the calling party in case SMS Roaming service is activated on my number?
A:
Error in connection tone and no announcement is heard
 
Q: Within Pakistan would I be able to use any VAS or Voice call related services?
A:
No, only SMS related services will work.
 
Q: Are there other options to activate SMS roaming other than sending SMS to 766?
A:
You can call 333 or visit your nearest service center/franchise to activate this service.
 
Q: Is this service applicable for VPN?
A:
Voice VPN services will not work but SMS VPN services will be available.
 
Q: While SMS Roaming service is active will this affect my SMS bucket subscription?
A:
SMS buckets are available for non-roaming scenarios only.
 
Q: What security deposit is required for Postpay connections to avail SMS Roaming?
A:
Postpay customers will have to make a security deposit Rs. 4,000.
 
Q: Where can I access to SMS Roaming tariffs?
A:
Tariffs are available at http://www.ufone.com/ir_tariff.aspx . Only SMS roaming charges will be applicable.
  
Q: Would I be able to switch roaming networks in a particular country to attain lower SMS charges? For example:
 
    a. In Singapore switching networks from Starhub to Singtel or from Singtel to M1.
    b. In U.K switching networks from O2 to Vodafone or from Vodafone to O2.

Network change would be possible and tariffs would be applicable as per the tariffs published on http://www.ufone.com/ir_tariff.aspx.
