Voice Roaming FAQs

Q: I make calls in a foreign country using Ufone International Roaming Service?
A: Simply dial "+" or “00” followed by the country code and the destination number (city code/mobile network code and the telephone number). For e.g. for Pakistan simply dial +92(city/mobile code) (number)

Q: How will the person Call me from Pakistan?
A: By simply dialing your mobile number preceded by 0333/0334 code.

Q: Procedure to Access Voice Mail while roaming internationally:
A: • From your Ufone number dial + 92 333 5110001 (North), 4220001 (Central) or 2110001 (South region) and wait for the voice prompt and Press #.

• Wait for the voice prompt and dial your Ufone number without ‘0’ e.g. 333 5xxxxxx, press # to access your Voice Mailbox and enter your password

Q: What can I do if I have a problem while I am on Roaming?

Q: How can I subscribe International Roaming on my Post paid Package
A: All you need is to deposit Rs. 15,000 as a security fee.

Q: Do I need to pay any extra charges for subscribing International Roaming?
A: NO

Q: What would be the total time required for the activation of IR on Post and Prepaid Package
A: Total execution time for the activation of IR on both *Post paid and Prepaid is 24 hours

Q: Can I Use GPRS facility while on roaming
A: Yes, this service is available for our subscriber in selected networks.

Q: Do I need to take any special handset on International roaming?
A: If your destination country is USA then you need to have any Tri-band (900, 1800, and 1900) frequency handset. If you want to roam in Japan only following handset would allow you to access their network:

Q: Can I have international Roaming facility on my Prepaid Connection?
A: Yes you can, Ufone is always a step ahead in facilitating their customers (available in selected networks).

Q: Can I get Ufone Prepaid card from Roaming country?
A: No, you should recharge your account up to 2000rs or more in order to avoid any inconvenience. Subscribers can also carry scratch cards with them to be loaded while roaming.

Q: How do I check my balance and what will be the procedure of voucher recharge on international roaming?
A: For balance Check please dial *124#
For Voucher recharge please dial *123*card number# send/ok (free of cost)

Q: What about international sms roaming charges on Prepay
A: SMS receiving is Free even with Zero balance.

Q: Can I manually select my network?
A: Yes, you can by the following method.

Nokia:

Menu > Settings > Phone Settings > Network > Selection > Manual

Motorola:

Menu > Settings > Network > Available Networks > Register Now

Sony Ericsson:

Menu > Connectivity > Mobile > Network/Networks > Search Mode > Manual > Select Network

Samsung:

Menu > Network Services > Network Selection > Manual

SMS Roaming FAQs

Q: What content customer would type and send to 766 to activate the SMS_ROM service?
A: Any content or even a blank sms would suffice

Q: What content customer would type and send to 765 to activate the SMS_ROM service?
A: As above

Q: Are there any sms charges for 766 & 765 destinations?
A: Standard sms charges apply Rs1.73 inclusive of tax

Q: When someone will call from here to the Customer whose package is now SMS_ROM, what recording he /she would receive?
A: Error in connection tone and no announcement is heard

Q: Within Pakistan, would he be able to use any VAS or any call?
A: No. only sms related VAS will work

Q: Only sms process is applicable to activate or deactivate SMS_ROM?
A: Subscriber can also call 333 or visit service centre

Q: Applicable for VPN?
A: Yes. Voice will not work but sms will

Q: While deactivating SMS_ROM package to normal package, what scenario would be with his previously activated services?
    a. Bucket SMS
    b. FNF Numbers (For Prepay / For Postpay)
    c. GPRS & MMS (For Prepay / For Postpay)
    d. MCN
A: a. Bucket applicable to prepay only. The service will not be available during roaming but the free sms will be available no return (service remains intact on IN)
     b. post pay will be deactivated and would need to be re-activated . Prepay provisioning on IN will remain intact

Q: Incase of any Line rent package his Line rent would be charged on daily basis because His voice telephony service & all other service would be barred?
A: The customer would still be active and being serviced

Q: Any Activity from WCMS can be done? For Instance:
a. Package Activation / Deactivation (Prepaid / Postpaid)
b. Any special TAB if added or about to add in WCMS for specifically dealing SMS_ROM package
A: None requested. It is to be treated as a regular roaming subscriber

Q: If customer comes & complaints that sms execution have been elapsed, what course of action would be taken from our side?
A: COPS to confirm. Normal complaint handling procedures should apply

Q: For any info of SMS_ROM, is there any sms channel 600 for bucket sms info?
A: No. the details are available on the website or at 333

Q: Is there any other process except sms to 765 that can be taken for deactivation of SMS_ROM?
A: As per point 6 above

Q: What security deposit is required for Postpay connections to avail SMS_ROM?
A: No additional security deposit is required

Q: SMS_ROM is for all prepay / postpaid old & new packages?
A: Yes

Q: If customer receives “Message sending Failed” or any other possible errors while activating or deactivating the SMS_ROM package, will their request be processed
A: If sms sending fails Ufone will have no intimation of customer request

Q: Where & when Prepay / Postpay Tariff which would be advertised on website are same what we do have in Info Browser?
A: Same as regular roaming tariff. Only sms charges would be applicable

Q: Customers who are on IR with deposit of Rs.15000/=, can they activate the service by sending sms to 766 regardless of presence whether in Pakistan or in any International Country?
A: Yes. Their voice facility would then be barred. It is not a recommended service for regular IR customers

Q: Would Customer be able to change networks of the particular country he flew for to attain lower sms charges, or within this package charges would be fixed? For Instance
a. If Singapore (From Starhub to Singtel) or (From Singtel to M1)
b. If U.K (From O2 to Vodafone) or (From Vodafone to O2)
A: Network change would be possible and tariffs would be applicable as per IOT

Q: Afghanistan Roaming is currently suspended, so only SMS_ROM will be applicable there?
A: No wherever roaming is suspended , SMS_ROM will not work
